Crowdmark’s new grading interface has updated the look and feel of the traditional canvas to provide more space, easier access to tools and room for exciting upcoming features. A user with Instructor permissions can opt into the new interface beta for all users in the course by clicking into the Course settings page and turning on the toggle. You can turn it off at any time.

For more information, if you have questions or concerns, or would like to be added to this beta release, please email support@crowdmark.com. Make sure to indicate which version of the grading interface you are working with. We look forward to hearing your feedback!

Comments can be managed through the Comment library tool, which can be accessed through the book icon in the tool menu at the top right of your grading canvas.

The Comment library shows all comments you have left on a question. Comments are shared across all graders in a team. Using the Comment library, you can view comments filtered by version.

Benefits of using the Comment library include:

  • Once a comment is in the library, it can be used to grade that question through the entire assessment.
  • If you select a comment then edit the content, it will save as a new comment.
  • Comments from randomized questions are labelled by version, and they are available to be used across any version of that question.
  • Comments can be edited once to change every instance used across the assessment
  • Instructors and Facilitators can also set up comments in the comment library or set a rubric using comments before grading starts.

Searching for comments

You can search for a specific comment by opening the Comment library and clicking the magnifying glass icon.

While grading, existing comments will auto-load as you type. Once you see the comment you would like to use, you can use the arrow keys to navigate to it and select it, or click it with the mouse to apply it.

Reviewing comment usage

In the Comment library you can see the percentage of graded questions that have a particular comment attached.

Using the three dots menu, Instructors and Facilitators can view a particular comment’s usage across the assessment. Clicking View usage will show filtered booklets where this comment has been applied. An Instructor or Facilitator can also edit all uses of a comment across an assessment, or edit their own uses only. Graders can edit their own uses only. There is also an option to delete a comment from the library. Keep in mind a comment cannot be deleted if it has been used in an evaluation.
