Integrations provide many benefits, including synchronization of information to make assessment administration more efficient.
Crowdmark and Canvas use integrations to share the following information:
Crowdmark provides two way to integrate with the Canvas LMS system:
This document will highlight the differences in workflow between the two integration types.
With the API integration, courses are imported to Crowdmark manually. Once the course is created, rosters and team can be synced, as well as grades. There is no link from the Canvas course shell to the Crowdmark course by default (a link can be created manually). All course and assessment creation takes place within Crowdmark. You can see instructions for that workflow here.
Courses are created by inserting an external tool module in the LMS course shell. Once the module exists, instructors can use it to click into Crowdmark. If the instructor does not already have a Crowdmark account, one will be created for them at this point. Once the Crowdmark course is created, roster and team sync may be initiated by the instructor. Assessments are created within Crowdmark, and do not automatically appear in the LMS (although they can be linked manually). Courses can be accessed and synced from within Crowdmark. Exact instructions vary by institution. If you’re unsure what the process looks like for you, please email support@crowdmark.com.
With both integration types students can sign in to Crowdmark with an email and password here.
With the API workflow, students access Crowdmark directly via their email and password. Most often, students would use Canvas credentials to authenticate, however there is no requirement for the student to access Canvas at all.
With the Standard LTI workflow, the student is linked to the Canvas course. They can access via:
